Bavaria: Construction workers hit by 400 kilograms of steel beams

Eging am See (dpa / lby) - A construction worker in Lower Bavaria was hit by a 400-kilogram steel girder on the foot and was seriously injured. The 21-year-old secured the wearer with a heavy-duty magnet at shoulder height when working near Eging am See (Passau district) on Saturday in order to carry out welding work on it, the police announced on Sunday.

The strap broke free and crashed onto the man's right foot. Although he was wearing safety shoes, the man was seriously injured and had to be flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter. It was not known why the carrier came loose.
