Bavaria: corn maze with record size

Atting (dpa / lby) - Winding paths and wrong turns lead through a corn field in Lower Bavaria. Five carefully worked out labyrinths combine to form a huge maize maze - according to the German Record Institute in Hamburg, it is the largest in the world at a good 16,600 square meters. Owner Markus Hiendlmeier and the district administrator of Straubing-Bogen, Josef Laumer (CSU), are looking forward to many visitors in the corn maze. The five motifs are intended to provide entertainment and tricky tasks at different levels of difficulty.

In 1998, the Hiendlmeier family cut a maze into their corn field for the first time. The spectacle now takes place every two years. This year the focus is on ancient Egypt.

The fun is not free: According to the organizer, children from the age of four and students pay six euros per day ticket, for adults it costs eight euros. There is also a playground and a beer garden.
