Bavaria: Corona isolation rules will also apply in schools from Wednesday

Munich (dpa/lby) - For people infected with corona in Bavaria, the obligation to isolate will no longer apply from Wednesday (November 16) - instead, mandatory protective measures will apply for those who have tested positive. The Bavarian schools are not exempt from this new regulation. The principle applies: "Anyone who is ill does not go to school," said the health and education ministries in unison.

"If a child has Corona, it makes sense to stay at home," said Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday. Even if the corona test is positive, it makes sense to stay at home for a few days. However, if the parents insist on sending their child to school despite a positive corona test, they must wear a mask there for the duration of the infection in accordance with the new measures. Even outside of schools, infected people who no longer want to go into isolation must wear a mask.

In the run-up to the meeting, representatives of the Bavarian teachers' associations had called for clear and implementable rules "that enable safe teaching in attendance for everyone involved". However, the measures in schools should not differ too much from the rules that would otherwise apply, otherwise there could be problems with acceptance. In addition, those responsible in science and politics must clearly define what "sick" or "contagious" means.

So far, people who have tested positive have had to be isolated for five to ten days - depending on whether and how long they have symptoms.
