Bavaria: CSU minister recommends approval of the compromise on citizen income

Munich (dpa / lby) - After the compromise between the Union and the traffic light coalition on the details of the citizens' income, the CSU now considers the planned law to be acceptable. Substantial improvements and clear corrections have been made compared to the original draft, said Bavaria's Social Affairs Minister Ulrike Scharf (CSU) on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Munich. As central points she named the significant reduction of the so-called protective assets and that sanctions could now be put into effect again from the beginning. The Union prevailed in these core demands, which is why Scharf said: "Personally, I can recommend approval."

The mediation committee of the Bundestag and Bundesrat is to tie down the compromise on Wednesday. By Friday, the Bundestag and the Chamber of States should then decide on the Citizens' Income Act.
