Bavaria: Customs investigators uncover trade in doping substances

Neustadt an der Donau (dpa/lby) - Two men have been taken into custody for the vigorous trade in doping substances. The suspects, aged 33 and 29, are accused of trading in doping and pharmaceuticals on a commercial basis, the Munich Customs Investigation Office announced on Thursday.

The 33-year-old businessman from the Neustadt an der Donau area is said to have regularly procured doping preparations from Poland since at least August 2021 before changing his tactics. He is said to have used the 29-year-old as a middleman for the deliveries.

The search of eleven apartments and a shop led to the seizure of smuggled doping preparations and other medicines. The value of the products is estimated at 15,000 euros. According to the information, the investigations are now directed against ten people between the ages of 22 and 55. The 33-year-old was arrested at the end of 2022, and the 29-year-old was arrested in early January.
