Bavaria: Deggendorf murder trial: Psychiatric report expected

Deggendorf (dpa / lby) - In the retrial for the violent death of a young woman from Lower Bavaria, the psychiatric report is to be presented on Thursday (9:00 a.m.) before the Deggendorf district court. The 28-year-old ex-boyfriend of the victim is accused. He is accused of murder. In a first trial in 2017 he was convicted of the manslaughter of the 20-year-old. Because witnesses in the first trial gave false testimony in favor of the accused, the case is now being retried.

The crucial question to be clarified in the process is: Did the German stab his son's mother while she was already asleep? Killing in his sleep would signify the murder trait of insidiousness. In the first proceedings, this question could not be clarified beyond doubt.

The case also caused a stir in autumn 2016 because the perpetrator had hidden his victim in foil in the apartment and fled to Spain with his small son. From there, he used the victim's cell phone to send messages to their relatives to reassure them. He also had a tattoo with the name and life data of the young woman and the phrase "Thank you for everything" on his arm. The 20-year-old's mother discovered the body two weeks after the crime.
