Wolfsegg (dpa / lby) - Several spent fireworks batteries in a paper bin have triggered a major fire brigade operation in the Regensburg district. According to the police, a 51-year-old resident had disposed of the remains in Wolfsegg early on New Year's Day and did not expect them to catch fire again.
Both the paper bin and the adjacent woodshed and the stored wood burned down completely, as the police announced on Monday. The masonry of the neighboring house was also damaged. The police estimate the damage to be between 30,000 and 40,000 euros. There were no injuries.
