Bavaria: Districts in the south are preparing for a blackout

Traunstein (dpa / lby) - In southern Bavaria, district offices are currently preparing for a possible blackout. The district office in Traunstein announced on Friday that the cross-district emergency planning will be further expanded together.

"It is difficult to assess the probability that such an event will occur," said District Administrator Siegfried Walch (CSU). Nevertheless, it is important to have emergency plans and the necessary infrastructure in place so that you can react very quickly.

The districts of Altötting, Berchtesgadener Land, Mühldorf a. According to the announcement, Inn and Traunstein had jointly commissioned a study on the subject of large-scale and prolonged power failures. Experts have developed a so-called municipal impact analysis (KIA) for crisis prevention for all districts.

Targeted preventive measures would be taken on the basis of the results already available. Among other things, it is about emergency generators, but also about stocks of fuel.

However, there can be no 100% security for every individual. "We have to concentrate on the critical infrastructure," Walch told dpa. These included clinics, rescue services, nursing homes, digital communication, water supply, authorities, payment systems and logistics. "The security situation worsens rapidly when the critical infrastructure no longer works."

In recent years there has been a major loss or disaster in the region almost every year. A disaster control center will soon be set up in the district, in which material can also be accommodated. A blackout can be caused by natural disasters and extreme weather, but also by energy shortages, sabotage or cyber attacks, it said.
