Hof/Oberkotzau (dpa/lby) - Probably due to a lack of oxygen, an elderly man in the Upper Franconian district of Hof lost control of his sports car and put several people in danger. The 79-year-old drove into oncoming traffic several times on Tuesday in Hof and Oberkotzau, other road users sometimes had to dodge the footpath to prevent a collision, the police said on Wednesday.
A Hof taxi driver managed to stop the 79-year-old by parking his taxi in front of the man's car at a favorable moment. As it turned out, the elderly man suffers from a lung disease and always needs oxygen. However, the oxygen bottle he was carrying was reportedly empty, so it must be assumed that there was a massive lack of oxygen.
The senior was taken to a hospital. The police initiated investigations against him into endangering road traffic.
