Munich (dpa/lby) - Also on Thursday, the German Weather Service (DWD) warned of gusts of wind, snowdrifts and heavy snowfall in some areas. Especially near the Alps and in the Bavarian Forest there should be gusts of up to 100 kilometers per hour and snowdrifts, as the DWD announced. In the east and in the Alps, the meteorologists announced sometimes severe snowfall. There is constant rain in parts of Franconia, Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate.
Because of the weather, there were crashes on Bavarian streets in many places, as reported by the police from Upper Palatinate, Upper and Middle Franconia. At first there were no injuries. The police from Middle Franconia warned of ice and asked drivers to be careful.
On Friday it should continue to storm, as it was said. With highs of eleven degrees, it snows only at higher altitudes. On Saturday it will rain again - during the day it will remain largely dry.
