Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavarian museums are concerned about the impending increase in energy costs. "Of course we all know that it is not possible without savings," writes the Association of Museums in Bavaria in a statement on Tuesday. However, the operation of the museums must be maintained. "Museums not only expand our knowledge with exhibitions, they are above all places where art and cultural history objects and items are kept. Museums are our cultural memory."
In order to protect cultural assets, the museums would have to comply with climatic and safety-related conditions. Savings would be particularly hard on small museums, which were already working to the limit to meet contractual insurance and loan conditions. "And of course we all want to save energy and we actually save energy wherever possible." The museums are appealing to the sponsors and politicians to make decisions in moderation, because: museums are systemically relevant and were already among the victims during the Corona crisis.
