Cham (dpa / lby) - Drunk and wearing flip-flops, a man fled from the police over the railway tracks in the Upper Palatinate. Then he fell down an embankment. The 39-year-old had previously hidden with four others in a train toilet at Cham train station on Monday evening, as the federal police announced on Tuesday. Because the 39-year-old was wanted on an arrest warrant, the investigators arrested him. However, after getting off the train, the man started running. He tripped, fell, and hit his head against a tree.
He was taken to hospital with a cut in his eye. The 39-year-old was wanted for theft. Since he could not pay the fine, he was imprisoned for 20 days, as a spokeswoman for the federal police said. There were no arrest warrants for the other men.
