Langenzenn (dpa/lby) – A false alarm deprived believers of their Christmas service on Christmas Eve in Langenzenn in central Franconia. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the nativity play and abruptly ended the celebration, as the Langenzenn fire brigade announced on Sunday. A large contingent of fire brigades from Langenzenn and the surrounding towns moved in and cleared the well-occupied church.

After a quick search, it turned out to be a false alarm. It came from a fire alarm in the church tower. The cause is still unclear, said the first commander of the Langenzenn fire brigade. However, he suspected that dust or cobwebs could have triggered the false alarm.
