Bavaria: fires at the weekend: 151 people evacuated from the ship

More than 150 people have to be brought to safety from a passenger ship because of a fire. A defective air conditioning system was the cause here - but there were also fires in other places in Bavaria at the weekend.

Wilburgstetten/Passau (dpa/lby) - There were numerous fires in Bavaria over the weekend. Among other things, a fire broke out on a passenger ship in Passau on Saturday due to a defective air conditioning system - 151 people had to be evacuated. The fire was quickly brought under control because the smoke detector alerted the ship's crew, it said. In addition, a fire broke out in a production hall near Wilburgstetten (Ansbach district) for unknown reasons on Saturday night and caused damage of around 200,000 euros, as the police announced on Sunday. There was also a fire on Sunday on a balcony of a detached house in Bad Kohlgrub (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district). There was damage in the six-digit range, nobody was injured. In Wartmannsroth (Bad Kissingen district), a hay baler caught fire on the same day due to a technical defect and caused several fires in a grain field. In Rain (Straubing-Bogen district) and Asbach-Bäumenheim (Donau-Ries district), the fire brigade also had to go out because of burnt food.
