Jettingen-Scheppach (dpa/lby) - In Swabia, around 40 properties have been flooded due to problems with a weir. As the police reported on Thursday, the suspicion of causing a flood is now being investigated. However, the investigators do not rule out that it could be a technical problem.

The flooding on the Mindel in Jettingen-Scheppach (Günzburg district) already occurred on Monday night after heavy rainfall. There, several weirs regulate the water level. The Mindel burst its banks at a weir and ran into a settlement. An expert should now clarify whether an operating error on the weir led to the flooding or whether there are other reasons. The amount of property damage is still unclear.
