Bavaria: Forest workers hit by a tree and died

Oberammergau (dpa / lby) - A forest worker was hit by a falling tree in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district and died. The presumably felled tree fell on the 24-year-old near Oberammergau on Monday and buried him under it, a police spokesman said on Tuesday. The man died on the spot. Other forest workers were not around at the time. The police rule out third-party fault; the exact course of events will be determined. The police could not say how tall the tree was – it probably had a diameter of about 50 centimeters.
