Bavaria: Four billion euros in family benefits paid out in Bavaria

Munich (dpa / lby) - Since the introduction of the Bavarian family allowance in 2018, the Free State has paid out four billion euros to families. "More than 800,000 children and families have now received up to 7,200 euros directly into their accounts without bureaucracy," said Minister of Social Affairs Ulrike Scharf (CSU) on Wednesday of the media group "Straubinger Tagblatt"/"Landshuter Zeitung". With the family allowance, Bavaria supports families in an uncomplicated way; the Free State is committed to its families.

The family allowance is paid for all one- and two-year-old children in Bavaria. Parents receive 250 euros per child per month, and 300 euros from the third child. The family benefit is independent of income, employment and type of childcare. Anyone who has already applied for and received parental allowance in Bavaria does not have to submit an additional application for family allowance. The application for parental allowance is then also considered an application for family allowance.
