Bavaria: Free voters focus on energy and public service

Straubing (dpa / lby) - With the topics of the energy crisis, health care and public service, the free voters set three main priorities at their state assembly in Straubing. To this end, they passed three resolutions on Saturday. His party is used to taking responsibility and acting instead of complaining, said FW chairman Hubert Aiwanger. "The country is in crisis, but we are here to help." On the other hand, the crisis at the federal level is exacerbated by "political inaction".

In view of skyrocketing energy prices, the Free Voters are demanding from the federal government, according to the resolution: "Network-relevant nuclear power plants, where safety is guaranteed, should initially remain connected to the grid until 2024." In addition, an energy price cap must be introduced immediately and VAT reduced to seven percent not only for gas, but also for oil and electricity. They also call for hydrogen production to be promoted and alternative energy sources such as wood to be promoted and massive price increases to be counteracted there.

The health and care system must be expanded, it said in a second resolution. These included better pay in the healthcare and nursing professions, a uniform collective agreement for nursing professions and better financing for hospitals. "Basic medical care must go back into state hands." The situation in clinics and in the care sector is precarious.

In order to strengthen the public service, it must be better equipped in many respects. These included, among other things, the digitization of all apprenticeships and jobs, tariff increases in day care for children and equal pay for teachers. In addition, the party is calling for the annual job increase planned until 2025 to be extended by 500 places until 2029.
