Bavaria: Funding for Bavaria's food banks will increase in 2023

Munich (dpa / lby) - To compensate for the high inflation and energy costs, the food banks in Bavaria should receive significantly more money from the Free State in the coming year. After the funding was 600,000 euros, this will now be increased to one million euros with funds from the hardship fund, said Social Affairs Minister Ulrike Scharf (CSU) on Tuesday after a cabinet meeting in Munich. As a result of the Ukraine war, the subsidy had already been raised to 800,000 euros. "It is the highest funding that has ever been given to the food banks in Bavaria," said Scharf.

The needy receive food from the food banks in Bavaria, and some even give out hot meals several days a week. Volunteers are committed to collecting, storing and distributing the food donations.
