Munich (dpa / lby) - The German basketball players contest their EM dress rehearsal in Munich. The team of national coach Gordon Herbert will play a qualifier for the 2023 World Cup on August 28 (3:00 p.m.) in the Audi Dome. The opponent has not yet been determined. He comes from qualifying group C with Finland, Slovenia, Sweden and Croatia. This would even make a duel with the Slovenian NBA superstar Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks possible.
The last time Germany played in the Munich Hall was during the 1972 Olympic Games, as the association and the Bayern basketball players announced on Tuesday.
The EM will take place from September 1st to 18th. The group stages will be held in Prague, Tbilisi, Milan and Cologne. The final round will take place in Berlin.
"This game in Munich, maybe even against Luka Doncic' Slovenians, is very attractive as a World Cup qualifier and at the same time a dress rehearsal for the European Championship. We want to give Gordi Herbert's team a push for the European Championship in the Audi Dome and celebrate it with a basketball festival say goodbye", explained the Munich managing director Marko Pesic.
