Munich/Straubing (dpa/lby) - Because of the corona pandemic, there were comparatively few vehicles on Bavaria's roads last year - but the number of speed offenders increased: the police registered around 1.1 million speed violations. The Bavarian police administration office said on Friday in Straubing that there were almost 100,000 more cases than in 2020. In 35,851 cases, the speed limit was exceeded so much that the driver was not allowed to get behind the wheel for at least a month. "These are thousands of cases of gross unreasonableness and recklessness," said Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann, according to the statement. This year the police have increased their controls.
