Bavaria: Greens call for more student internships in apprenticeships

Munich (dpa / lby) - The Greens are calling for additional internships - specifically in training occupations - at all secondary schools. From grade seven there should be two mandatory internships for all students, said parliamentary group leader Katharina Schulze on Monday in Munich. At the moment, the students at many schools are free to choose, many of them spend their internships at their parents' place of work.

Schulze and the co-chairman of the parliamentary group, Ludwig Hartmann, justified the initiative by wanting to strengthen the trades and combat the shortage of skilled workers in many professional fields. Hartmann emphasized that in the fight against climate change, for example, there are many trades that are of fundamental importance. "Without craft no energy transition, without craft no climate protection," he said.
