Bavaria: Herrmann attacks activists after blocking the bus depot

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann reacted angrily to a bus depot blockade of the "Anti-Capitalist Climate Meeting". "The climate activists have obviously lost their bearings in the meantime," said the CSU politician on Thursday in Munich. "Everyone respects union strikes. But it's absurd that climate activists are blocking public transport."

In the early morning, as part of the warning strike on buses and trains in Munich, the activists had blocked a bus depot for two hours to prevent non-striking drivers from exiting. The action was not directed against the bus drivers, some of whom could not go on strike because of a different collective agreement, but was support for the strike, the initiative argued. According to the municipal transport company MVG, the effects were limited.

"These muddleheads completely sideline themselves and show what it's all about: they want to attack 'the capitalist system'," said Herrmann. It fits with the lack of orientation that they chose a bus company of the Munich public utility company as a symbol for the fight against capitalism.
