Bavaria: Holetschek introduces vaccination officers for care facilities

Munich (dpa / lby) - In order to increase the vaccination rate for the fourth vaccination against the corona virus, Bavaria will in future introduce its own officers for the old people's and nursing homes in the vaccination centers. Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (CSU) said they should look after the facilities closely and make a targeted effort to get the first and second booster vaccinations for the residents. "Despite our intensive efforts so far, the rate of booster vaccinations in the facilities - especially the fourth vaccination - is not yet satisfactory."

From mid-August onwards, the vaccination officers, in consultation with the associations, should offer a counseling week in all care facilities, for example. "The aim is for the vaccination officers to go to the facilities on site, talk to residents, take away unfounded fears and, if necessary, organize vaccinations via mobile vaccination teams," explained the minister.

The Standing Vaccination Commission recommends the second booster vaccination - i.e. the fourth corona vaccination - for people over the age of 70, for residents in care facilities, for people at risk of a severe course of the disease in integration assistance facilities, for people with an immune deficiency from the age of five and for staff in medical and nursing facilities.
