Bavaria: Ifo estimate: Economy shrank in the third quarter

Munich/Dresden (dpa/lby) - According to an estimate by the Ifo Institute, the Bavarian economy shrank in the third quarter. The economic researchers are against a minus of 0.8 percent, as they announced on Wednesday. This puts the Free State in 13th place among the federal states. The figures are a comparison to the previous quarter and are seasonally and calendar adjusted.

The Ifo locates the highest growth in Schleswig-Holstein with a plus of 2.4 percent and the strongest decline with a minus of 2.8 percent in North Rhine-Westphalia. The basis is a new estimation method by economic researchers, which is based on the first publication of the Federal Statistical Office for German gross domestic product. For the third quarter, this was a slight growth of 0.3 percent for the Federal Republic. According to the Ifo, the structural characteristics of the countries are decisive for the differences.
