Bavaria: IG Metall calls for warning strikes in 95 companies

Munich (dpa/lby) - Parallel to the next round of wage negotiations in Baden-Württemberg, IG Metall Bayern has called for warning strikes in 95 companies in the local metal and electrical industry on Thursday. In Regensburg and Landshut, for example, there should be large rallies in front of the BMW plants, in the Upper Palatinate also with the participation of numerous other companies in the region. In Bamberg, too, Bosch associates will gather together with other associates for a rally. According to the union, it should be similar in Donauwörth, Königsberg and Ansbach.

So far there have been four unsuccessful rounds of negotiations in the nationwide wage conflict. IG Metall is demanding eight percent more wages. The employers have offered a one-off payment of 3,000 euros net for two and a half years, as well as a previously unspecified increase in the wage tables.

The next round of talks is scheduled for Thursday in Baden-Württemberg. If the agreement hoped for by both sides is reached there, it would be a pilot agreement with a nationwide signal effect. In the past few days, tens of thousands of metalheads have taken part in the warning strikes in Bavaria alone. Around 855,000 people work in the metal and electrical industry in Bavaria and almost four million nationwide.
