Bavaria: Incidence in Bavaria continues to decrease: Large regional differences

Munich (dpa / lby) - The reported corona infections in Bavaria continue to decline sharply. The incidence is now 214, in the previous week the value was 333, said Head of State Florian Herrmann (CSU) on Tuesday after a meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich, citing figures from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). "The relaxation continues." The values were also constantly falling in the number of hospitalizations.

In a nationwide comparison, Bavaria occupies a midfield position. Schleswig-Holstein was the leader on Tuesday with an incidence of 326.7, while in Thuringia it was just 72.6. Within Bavaria, however, the numbers vary widely. The district of Miesbach recorded an incidence of 444.2, the city of Memmingen only 54.1.

"These are currently very encouraging developments," said Herrmann. Nevertheless, good preparation for autumn and possible changes, such as new virus variants, are still important. In order to be prepared for the situation that is not yet foreseeable, the federal government must also develop defense mechanisms at an early stage. Unfortunately, the disagreement in the traffic light government has prevented this so far.

The incidence in Bavaria has been falling for months. It peaked at 2199.9 at the end of March. However, significantly fewer tests are now being carried out. Therefore, all figures should be interpreted with great caution.
