Aschaffenburg (dpa / lby) - After the largest cocaine find in Bavaria to date, the judgments against two young men are final. The 23-year-old man, who denied knowing about the drug smuggling at the trial, has accepted the verdict, a court spokeswoman confirmed on Thursday.
The men were sentenced to several years in prison by the Aschaffenburg district court in early February for aiding and abetting the trade in narcotics. The verdict against the 26-year-old was immediately final.
In June, the men wanted to get more than a ton of cocaine out of a container that had been transported from the Dominican Republic to Lower Franconia. Investigators estimate the street sales value at almost 109 million euros. The Munich customs investigation office spoke of the largest single amount of cocaine that had been seized in Bavaria to date.
The trial of a third party will begin on March 10.
