Bavaria: Kestrel flies into police inspection - and stays

Nuremberg (dpa/lby) - Police officers from the Nuremberg-Mitte Police Inspectorate had to deal with a visitor who was difficult to capture: a young kestrel flew through a window of the office in the old town on Saturday - and wanted to stay there first, like a Spokesman for the police headquarters in Central Franconia reported on Wednesday. The bird landed right in front of an officer's feet.

Although the policeman immediately opened all the doors and windows, the kestrel did not want to leave the inspection voluntarily. Perhaps it was his first flight attempts, said the spokesman. The official finally "attacked courageously" and brought the bird outside. The kestrel said goodbye with a pike in the thumb of the officer.

The falcon was not ringed, so it was not one of the falcons in Nuremberg Castle, the spokesman explained.
