Bavaria: Kitzingen once again the hottest place in Bavaria

Kitzingen (dpa / lby) - The Lower Franconian Kitzingen once again defended its reputation as a Bavarian heat center on Wednesday. As a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) in Munich reported, the Lower Franconian city reported 39.6 degrees according to preliminary figures - the highest value in the Free State.

But this was not a heat record, neither for Bavaria nor for Kitzingen. Because the northern Bavarian district town had even set a German heat record in 2015, 40.3 degrees were measured in Kitzingen at the time. Only four years later other places in Germany surpassed this value.

As expected, according to the DWD, Wednesday was the hottest day of the year in other Bavarian cities, for example 36.8 degrees were measured in Munich. The national leader at 3:30 p.m. was Bad Mergentheim-Neunkirchen in Baden-Württemberg with 40.3 degrees.
