Bavaria: Kripo checks missing persons after finding a dead boy

Vohburg (dpa / lby) - After a dead boy was found in the Danube, the police checked more than a dozen missing persons from Germany and abroad. According to investigators, in the cases that could be connected to the body from the river, the circumstances of the child's disappearance are being closely examined.

In Bavaria alone, 16 cases of missing persons were checked, the police reported on Friday. First, the "image" had reported about it. In addition, the cases of missing boys would also be checked in the rest of Germany and in neighboring countries, said a police spokesman. Inquiries are currently pending. The police have not yet given a specific number of possible further missing persons cases.

Last week, a canoeist discovered the body of a four to six-year-old boy in the river near Vohburg in Upper Bavaria (district of Pfaffenhofen/Ilm). The dead boy was wrapped up and had been in the water for a long time. The Ingolstadt Criminal Investigation Department has formed an investigative team, but does not want to commit itself to a crime yet. Investigators are awaiting further findings from the forensic examination of the body, which has not yet been completed.

In addition, there should be another search in the Danube near Vohburg at the beginning of next week, probably on Tuesday. With the help of the devices of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief, the police want to look for further traces in the river.
