Munich (dpa / lby) - TSV 1860 Munich said goodbye to the winter break of the 3rd football league with a late goal and a bitter mood dampener. The "Löwen" did not get better than 1: 1 (0: 0) against Rot-Weiss Essen in front of a home crowd on Monday evening and overwintered in sixth place. Albion Vrenezi (76') put the home side ahead with a converted penalty kick, Felix Bastians headed in after a free kick (90' 1) to equalize. For Michael Köllner's team, who is coming under more and more pressure, it was the fourth winless game in a row.

"We gave our all in a fighting spirit and the team went to the limit. But such a standard shouldn't happen to us at the end," criticized Köllner at Magenta Sport and described the outcome as "incredibly bitter".

After three goalless appearances, the Munich team again revealed deficits in the offensive game at the end of the first half of the season. Although the hosts controlled the game over long stretches, they hardly got into the danger zone. Marius Wörl (21st) missed the only big chance of the first half when he shot wide of the goal from about five meters. In Essen, Niklas Tarnat (36th) hit a free kick against the post.

Only the substitution of offensive player Marcel Bär after the break provided more power in the storm. Vrenezi's apparently redeeming goal initially sent the Munich fans in the Grünwalder Stadion into ecstasy - it was Bayern's first goal after 356 minutes. The late goal ultimately caused long faces. The gap to second-placed Saarbrücken is three points. "We will attack from the first to the last day of the second half of the season," Köllner promised.
