Bavaria: Late summer for a short flying visit again as a guest

First it was cloudy for days, now there is still rain in many places - but the prospects are bright: by Sunday at the latest, late summer will return in large parts of Bavaria. But it remains a short visit.

Munich (dpa / lby) - In the next few days, late summer will return to Bavaria again. "But it is a short flying visit, because there are already indications that a front is approaching on Monday evening that will touch at least northern Bavaria on Tuesday night," said a meteorologist from the German Weather Service (DWD) on Thursday. Especially on Sunday and Monday, however, there could be sunny, warm late summer days again.

After rain showers during the night, there will be a longer dry break from morning to afternoon on Friday before more showers will pass. According to the forecast, the temperatures will be between 14 degrees in Vogtland and 19 degrees in southern Upper Bavaria with weak to moderate wind.

On Saturday, the rainy area will also be over Bavaria for a while before it will slowly be carried northwards in the afternoon hours. Franconia and eastern Bavaria will have to deal with rain showers for the longest time, while on the edge of the Alps and in the foothills of the Alps there is a chance of sunshine in the afternoon hours. It will also be up to 20 degrees warm there, while it stays at 14 degrees in the Fichtelgebirge. The wind is expected to be a little stronger, even stormy on the Alpine peaks with occasional gusts of wind.

"On Sunday we benefit from the fact that we get warmer air from the southwest," explained the DWD expert. The retreating rain front will at most affect the northern parts of Franconia, while in the south there will be almost nine hours of sunshine - and this at up to 25 degrees.

"Monday is characterized by the fact that we will have a quiet start to the day after the fog fields have cleared," said the weather expert. With up to 90 percent possible sunshine and up to 24 degrees, it will be very friendly at first, until the first clouds appear in northern Bavaria in the afternoon - precursors of the next cold front. Accordingly, the meteorologist advises: "Everybody fill up on sun and energy again!"
