Bavaria: Leader: Jahn Regensburg celebrates second division top start

Regensburg (dpa / lby) - Jahn Regensburg has made the next top start in the 2nd Bundesliga. Coach Mersad Selimbegovic's team also won the second game of the season against Arminia Bielefeld, who had been relegated to the Bundesliga, 3-0 (1-0) on Sunday - and they deserved it. Captain Benedikt Gimber with a remarkable header in stoppage time in the first half, midfield colleague Maximilian Thalhammer with a well-placed low shot (56th minute) and substitute Minos Gouras (90.1) after a defense error scored the goals for the excellently organized Upper Palatinate.

With six points and 5:0 goals, Jahn jumped to the top of the table. In the past season, the Regensburgers even had a dream start with four wins. Jahn got in the mood for the DFB Cup home game against Bundesliga side 1. FC Köln and the following league game against 1. FC Nürnberg.

Jahn's appearance in front of 18,144 spectators at the Bielefelder Alm seemed very mature. After a bad pass from goalkeeper Stefanos KApino, Andreas Albers had the 1-0 on his foot early on, but missed the empty Bielefeld goal from a distance. Gimber then did better with a header into the far corner after a cross from Nicklas Shipkowski. After the break, Arminia pushed and had chances through Janni Serra. But Thalhammer stopped the momentum with his fine low shot.
