Passau (dpa / lby) - A 38-year-old driver first knocked a cyclist to the ground with his car in the Passau area at Christmas, then touched another car - and finally injured two officers in a wild chase with the police.

First, the car in Passau hit a 57-year-old cyclist, the police reported on Sunday. The driver stopped. Instead of helping, he insulted the cyclist - and finally drove on. The cyclist complained of back pain and was taken to the Passau Clinic in an ambulance.

About ten minutes later, the 38-year-old drove his car into a roundabout at excessive speed and touched the car of a 21-year-old. The 21-year-old stopped - the person who caused the accident continued to race.

In the meantime, several patrol cars had left to search. A patrol wanted to stop the 38-year-old and turned on the blue lights - but the accident driver drove past the police car and fled at excessive speed.

He stopped briefly in a dead end. When two police officers opened the driver's door and wanted to get the man out of the car, he pressed the accelerator and drove on with the wheels spinning. The police officers were thrown to the ground and moderately injured. A few meters further on, the 38-year-old's car touched a rock and came to a stop. Officers were able to get the driver out of the vehicle and tie him up. The 38-year-old was heavily intoxicated.

Criminal proceedings were initiated, among other things, for dangerous bodily harm and endangering road traffic. The man was admitted to a district hospital because of considerable danger to himself and others. Road users who were endangered in the pursuit called the police to report.
