Bavaria: man saves cats in an apartment fire – 100,000 euros in damage

Roding (dpa / lby) - A 51-year-old saved himself and his three cats in an apartment fire in the Upper Palatinate district of Cham. There was damage of around 100,000 euros. There was a fire in the living room area, which the 51-year-old resident from Roding noticed on Monday morning through a smoke detector, a police spokesman reported. According to a fire department spokesman, the apartment is uninhabitable, "it can happen that the entire apartment has to be gutted". A possible cause of the fire is a technical defect in an electrical device. A total of around 80 emergency services were on site. Nobody got hurt.
