Bavaria: Missing swimmer recovered dead from Lake Starnberg

Berg (dpa / lby) - The swimmer who has been missing in Lake Starnberg since Sunday was found dead on Wednesday. As the police announced, the body of the 32-year-old from Munich was located at a depth of 25 meters and recovered on Wednesday afternoon by divers from a special company together with the water rescue service and the Starnberg water protection police.

The swimmer was apparently hit by a motorboat 300 meters from the shore near Berg on Sunday afternoon. According to friends who saw the accident from a rubber dinghy a few meters away, he went under immediately. To clarify the cause of death, the Munich II public prosecutor ordered an autopsy on the body.

The investigations by the Fürstenfeldbruck criminal police are ongoing. Whether the boatman is at fault is open. An expert was on site on Tuesday to prepare an expert opinion on the course of the accident. One must wait for the results, said a police spokesman.
