Bavaria: More problems with Go-Ahead: Many trains are cancelled

Augsburg (dpa / lby) - The problems at the railway company Go-Ahead with new trains from Siemens in Swabia continue. A thinned-out timetable continues to come, a spokeswoman said on Sunday. Less than 50 percent of the vehicles were available on Saturday. The train traffic from Go-Ahead around Augsburg must be reduced even more in the new week, it said.

When the timetable changed on Sunday a week ago, new trains from Siemens Mobility went into operation. After black ice and low temperatures, however, there were problems with the pantographs and couplings.

"When our new trains were introduced in the Augsburg network, there were unfortunately technical disruptions due to the weather, for which we would like to apologize to the passengers," said Elmar Zeiler, head of regional trains at Siemens Mobility, according to the announcement.

According to Go-Ahead, other trains were also restricted due to the wintry weather. Employees from Siemens Mobility and Go-Ahead have been working around the clock for days "to eliminate these errors and their effects and to ensure smooth train traffic as soon as possible".

Go-Ahead Managing Director Fabian Amini announced a "greatly reduced basic offer" for the new week. Even the student trains could not run.
