Bavaria: More than 50 kilometers of traffic jams towards Austria

Rosenheim (dpa / lby) - Because of block handling in Tyrol, the trucks towards Austria temporarily backed up to more than 50 kilometers on Thursday. This was announced by the traffic police in Rosenheim. The day before, a driving ban for trucks had applied in Austria due to the national holiday, which is why a particularly large number of trucks were waiting in the border area.

Initially, only 100 trucks per hour were allowed to enter Austria via Kufstein in the early hours of the morning, the traffic police wrote. The authorities in Tyrol later increased this to 350 per hour. Already in the morning there was a traffic jam up to the Inntal triangle. In the afternoon, the backlog of trucks had reached a maximum length of more than 50 kilometers: the entire Autobahn 93 and parts of the A8 were affected.

On Friday, the traffic police expect further obstructions to the south, as renovation work is being carried out on the motorway just across the border and only one lane is available to the south.
