Bavaria: Motorcyclist dies in a rear-end collision

Memmelsdorf (dpa / lby) - A motorcyclist died in a rear-end collision on the Autobahn 70 near Memmelsdorf (Bamberg district). The 59-year-old from Lower Franconia apparently realized too late that the driver of a semitrailer truck was just overtaking another vehicle in his lane, the police headquarters in Upper Franconia announced on Wednesday. He drove onto the truck at high speed between the Scheßlitz junction and the Bamberg motorway junction and, despite quick rescue measures, died at the scene of the accident.
