Bavaria: New state farmer comes from Upper Bavaria

Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria's new state farmer is called Christine Singer. The 57-year-old was elected head of the country women in the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV) at the delegates' meeting in Herrsching am Ammersee on Monday, as the association announced. Singer succeeds Anneliese Göller, who did not run for re-election after ten years in office. She was previously deputy state farmer and Upper Bavarian district farmer.

The trained master of housekeeping comes from Hofheim (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district) and runs a dairy farm with her family. According to the information, Singer has been involved in the BBV at various levels for 25 years. In the future, Christine Reitelshöfer, a district farmer from Central Franconia, and her Swabian counterpart, Christiane Ade, will act as her deputies.

Above all, Singer wants to strengthen the self-confidence of farming families. "We farmers are the responsible designers of the cultural landscape." Farmers are needed and can offer solutions in the areas of environment, climate, energy, nutrition and nature. The BBV stands by the companies and supports them, especially in difficult situations and in emergencies, for example through village and business assistance.

In addition, Singer wants to devote himself to the information according to topics such as training and further education, public relations and dialogue with politics and society. But also issues specific to rural women - from the young farmer's wife to the farmer's wife - are important to her.
