Bavaria: Nuremberg warns of a deceptive starting position

With a win in Braunschweig, 1. FC Nuremberg wants to keep the relegation zone at bay. The staff is once again causing concern for the "club". Something will change for the coach soon.

Nuremberg (dpa / lby) - Table constellations are completely irrelevant to "Club" coach Robert Klauß. Before the away game at bottom side Eintracht Braunschweig, the football coach from 1. FC Nürnberg warned against being misled by the opponent’s meager points tally.

"The table doesn't reflect what Braunschweig has done so far," said Klauss before the guest appearance in the 2nd Bundesliga on Friday (6:30 p.m.). "What can the opponent do? And what does the opponent do?" - these are the questions that Klauß prefers to deal with. And in his opinion, Lower Saxony can do quite a lot.

"Brunswick is very intense and has a lot of shots after counterattacks," Klauß said of the promoted team's weapons. Against Lower Saxony, the Franks are once again in their rather unloved role as favorites. A week after the 2-0 defeat in the top game against HSV, a win is expected. The expectations of others are Klauß - of course - "also pretty much irrelevant".

As is now usual this season, the "Club" travels to the bottom of the table with weakened personnel. Midfielder Fabian Nürnberger will be out "for a long time" with an elbow injury. The operation went well, as Klauss reported. There was also a question mark behind veteran Enrico Valentini (cold) on Wednesday. That's why Lino Tempelmann got back into full training.

Instead of whining, Klauß sees the tense personnel situation as an opportunity to soon present an even stronger squad. "We have our own players from our own offspring. I believe that these guys can also surprise. If the injured come back, we'll have a much better squad situation and simply more players at a high level," said Klauss.

After the departure of assistant coach Tobias Schweinsteiger, things will soon change for Klauß. The search for a new assistant coach is in full swing. "I have a very big say, because the assistant coach is someone I trust," said Klauss. He is in many conversations with sports director Dieter Hecking and sports director Olaf Rebbe.
