Holiday guests will have to pay more from summer 2023 if they want to park at Königssee. The municipality cancels all perks - and wants to get guests and locals to take the bus.
Schönau (dpa / lby) - Parking at the popular Königssee will be more expensive next year. From the middle of the year, all parking concessions for holiday guests will no longer apply. They have benefited for a long time: Instead of eight euros, they only paid four euros with the guest card, since last year six euros. But in mid-2023, the perks will be completely abolished. "We have too much traffic. We have to reduce it," says the mayor of Schönau am Koenigssee, Hannes Rasp (CSU).
He further explains: "We want to strengthen our public transport." From June 1, 2023, the buses will run from Berchtesgaden to Königssee every 15 minutes. At best, visitors should avoid cars.
Thanks to the guest card, bus travel has been free for holidaymakers for years anyway. The 5,500-inhabitant community is investing massively in the upgrading of local passenger transport - a mid-six-figure sum per year: With two opposing ring lines, it should be possible to board the bus every 15 minutes. The lines run from Berchtesgaden via the main station to Königssee and back again. The journey costs two euros. There will also be an annual pass. "It will cost just under 200 euros," says Rasp. Other excursion parking spaces remain discounted for holidaymakers with a guest card. "The bus connections are not that good there."
The annual parking permit for hiking parking spaces is also to become more expensive: the price for the permit, which is valid from December 1st of this year to January 31st, 2024, will increase from 40 to 80 euros. The ticket allows parking in the hiking car parks in Berchtesgaden, Schönau am Königssee and in the mountaineering village of Ramsau. In December and January, the ticket should still cost the original price of 40 euros.
