Bavaria: poison gas alarm by insecticides: fire brigade is approaching

Würzburg (dpa / lby) - In Würzburg, the fire brigade arrived with special forces on Tuesday after highly toxic gases formed as a result of insecticides stored there. A spokesman for the fire brigade said on Tuesday evening that the residents of a house in the Unterdürrbach district wanted to use the tablets found to fight vermin on their own. They would have ordered them over the Internet from abroad.

According to the information, a pest controller sent by the administrative district of Lower Franconia instructed the firefighters at the scene. When the substances were recovered, they wore chemical protection suits and stored them in lockable containers. According to the city of Würzburg, a special fire engine was also used for decontamination.

The toxic gases were created when the insecticides reacted with the moisture in the ambient air, it said. There was no danger to the population during the operation. The police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the procurement and storage of the insecticides.
