Bavaria: Psychiatric reports in the trial of stabbers

A man attacks innocent people with a knife in Würzburg - three women are killed. More than a year later, two psychiatrists are to describe their impression of the accused to the district court.

Estenfeld/Würzburg (dpa/lby) - In the trial against the probably mentally ill stabber from Würzburg, the psychiatric reports are due today. The two experts are to report to the Würzburg Regional Court what impression they have of the accused and why they believe he was not guilty of the crime in June last year. According to the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office and the Munich Public Prosecutor's Office, the experts commissioned in the investigation had come to this conclusion independently of one another.

Voices in his head are said to have prompted the Somali refugee to attack people he apparently did not know. Fears shortly after the fact that the man had acted for terrorist reasons or religious beliefs have not been confirmed in the security procedure that has been running since April. There are also no indications of accomplices or accomplices or of an extremist background. According to a toxicological report, the suspect had not taken drugs or alcohol.

The pleadings and the verdict could come in the coming week. The trial will not take place in the justice center due to a lack of space, but at different locations, this Friday in an event hall in nearby Estenfeld.

On June 25, 2021, the accused killed three unknown women with a knife in downtown Würzburg. There were also four seriously injured women. An 11-year-old girl and a 16-year-old were also seriously injured. There were also three minor injuries.

The man, in his 30s, whose exact age is unknown to authorities, has admitted the allegations and expressed his regret.

The Munich public prosecutor believes the migrant acted out of hatred for Germany. She wants to have him permanently placed in a psychiatric ward because he is said to be dangerous to everyone.
