Hof (dpa/lby) - Due to the fire in a recovery vehicle and a towed truck, the A93 was completely closed in the direction of Hof on Thursday evening. The fire broke out shortly before 5 p.m. between the Selb-Nord and Schönwald junctions, the police said. A diversion was set up at the Selb-Nord junction. Drivers need a lot of patience.
The towed truck initially caught fire for reasons unknown. The 32-year-old driver of the recovery vehicle noticed this and stopped in the area of the Schönwald junction between the entrance and exit. "However, the fire already spread to the recovery vehicle," it said. The green area in the area of the Schönwald exit also started to burn. Nobody got hurt. The damage caused by the fire is estimated at a quarter of a million euros.
Both lanes of traffic were initially blocked due to heavy smoke. A large contingent of emergency services, including the fire brigade, technical relief organization, highway maintenance department and rescue service, was at the scene. The south lane was reopened to traffic around 5:30 p.m.
