Schongau/Peißenberg (dpa/lby) - Passengers on the Bavarian Regiobahn (BRB) will have to switch to buses and taxis between Schongau and Peißenberg until at least Monday. The route was closed after a train driver reported damage to the track, as BRB announced on Thursday evening.
A spokeswoman explained that train drivers usually notice damage to the route due to unusual movements of the train and then report it. In this case, the track must also be repaired, the spokeswoman said.
Deutsche Bahn is currently checking around 200,000 concrete sleepers across Germany - a precautionary measure after the serious train accident in Garmisch-Partenkirchen that left several dead in early June. The BRB spokeswoman could not say whether thresholds of this type were installed at the corresponding point between Schongau and Peißenberg.
