Bavaria: rider saves injured lumberjack

Vilsbiburg (dpa / lby) - A rider saved an injured lumberjack in Lower Bavaria in the forest. The 57-year-old farmer wanted to fell a spruce in Vilsbiburg on Monday, the police said on Tuesday. In order to influence the direction of fall, he supported the tree with the front loader fork of his tractor at a height of about three meters. As the tree fell, however, the fork came loose from its anchorage and fell to the ground, grazing the man. He was badly injured and screamed for help. A woman out riding her horse heard him and called for an ambulance. The man was taken to the hospital with multiple fractures.
