Kempten (dpa / lby) - Heavy rain flooded numerous streets in southern Allgäu on Thursday. A spokesman for the police headquarters in Swabia South/West reported on numerous operations in the area of Oberstaufen, Immenstadt and Sonthofen. "There's a thunderstorm, it's hail and a strong wind is blowing."
The German Weather Service had warned of extreme thunderstorms in the region. The DWD announced that there was a risk of flooding, hail and lightning up to 6 p.m., especially on the edge of the Alps in the Allgäu towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Warning level four out of four applies. Trees could be uprooted and roofs damaged. Falling branches, roof tiles or objects flying around are a danger. Landslides are also possible, people should close windows and doors and avoid being outdoors as much as possible.
