Bavaria: Roche is investing 600 million in the Penzberg site

Mannheim/Penzberg (dpa/lby) - The pharmaceutical company Roche is investing around 600 million euros in its Penzberg site in Upper Bavaria. A diagnostics production center is to be built for the sum, as the company announced on Tuesday in Mannheim. The new building is expected to be completed by 2027 and will replace older buildings. A direct job creation is not associated with it.

In the center, input materials for diagnostic tests are to be produced - for example to detect cardiovascular or infectious diseases. According to the company, the entire Roche site in Penzberg has around 7,500 employees and is one of the largest biotechnology centers in Europe.
